Learning Letter
This course definitely set me up with a lot of positive resources for my future classroom that I am grateful for. I believe that I did very well in the text presentations. I wish that I would have made them a little more creative, (considering they were all powerpoint slides) but I am very pleased with how I did. My favorite presentation that I did was the "The Book Whisperer." I loved this presentation so much solely because the book was INCREDIBLE. It taught me basically everything I need to know, need to prepare for, and different activities to get my students to love reading. It is a book that I will always keep in my classroom. Some of the discussions that I remember enjoying a lot were over graphic novels. I loved going to the library with the class and looking over different graphic novels together and how they are just as beneficial as other novels. I believe that I grew a lot in this class. I believe that my participation throughout this course has benefitted my thinking about myself as a teacher because I went through some tough things this quarter and continued to move forward. Because this quarter was full of unfortunate surprises for me, I struggled a lot with some of the assignments; not because they were hard, but because I just could not get myself into the mental headspace to do them. This made me think a lot about how I wanted to teach for my students when some of them are going through similar things. Every kid is dealing with something, and I hope so badly that they feel comfortable to open up to me about what is going on. These assignments, if anything, have taught me how to navigate through different assignments and to understand that there is not one way to teach a subject. And because of this, I really do hope that I can care for all of my students' needs and help them strive in my class through whatever hardship they are going through.
